Do the colors at the top of each card have to match to make a pair?
No. Pairs are made when two cards have matching titles/pictures.
What is the difference between orange and blue cards?
Orange cards force the player who owns the card to perform a rule for the whole game as long as that player has that pair in play. Blue cards force the owner of the card to perform an action once (immediately when the pair is played or when the pair changes owners).
Some cards have actions or rules that are impossible to follow at the same time. Why?
This is intentional as a way for players to be be removed from the game.

Do cards have to match to make a pair?
No. Pairs are made by combining any two cards in your hand that are not the pink Filthy Old Maid card.
Do I have to use a topic from the top or bottom of the card?
You may use either the top or bottom topic.
Can I use a letter and topic from the same card?
No. You must use one letter from one card in the pair and one letter from the other card in the pair.
How do I know who performs the penalty/action in the banners?
Red banners make the player who played the pair perform the penalty/action. Green banners make a player other than the player who played the pair perform the penalty/action.
Can I say anything in response to the topic in my pair?
You may only give responses that begin with the letter in your pair. The response must be four word or less. Lastly, the response must make sense, fit the topic and not be arbitrary. In other words, you can't make up words or add random words just to fit the letter. Nor can you give response that have nothing to do with the topic.
